1 - Where do you live?
Langley, BC
2 - What do you do (for a living)?
I am a Public Health Nurse
3 - Tell us what made you passionate about immunization.
I have always been a firm believer in prevention; why treat a disease when I can stop it from even occurring in the first place? We are constantly looking for cures for cancer, but we have vaccines available that can prevent certain types of cancer!
4 - What's something that you didn't know or surprised you when you did the quizzes?
I was surprised to learn that many people find immunizations difficult to talk about. As health care providers, we often forget that this topic is sensitive to many and we need to remember that fact.
5 - If you could give one message to vaccine hesitant parents, what would it be?
Call your public health nurse and ask to have a one to one discussion about vaccines. They will listen to you and take the time to help address your specific worries or concerns about the risks and benefits of immunization vs disease, and ensure that you are able to make an informed decision about whether or not to immunize your child(ren).
